Painters in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary

Clonmel is the biggest town in Tipperary and about an hour from our yard. We are painters and decorators - interiors, exteriors, and the preparation that decides whether either of them lasts. One crew from survey to final clean-up, one written price agreed before we start.

Inland does not mean easier - it means a different enemy

Houses on the coast lose paint to salt. Clonmel sits inland in the Suir valley with the Comeraghs to the south, and what takes paint off walls here is shade and water. A gable that faces north and never gets a full day of sun stays damp for most of the winter, and damp render grows algae. That green-black film people scrub off every spring is not dirt on the paint, it is a colony living in it, and painting over it just feeds the next one.

The valley also shortens the season. Render needs a properly dry surface and a run of dry days after the first coat, and in a river valley the mornings hold moisture long after the sky has cleared. We would rather tell you in April that August is the honest month for your exterior than take the job in November and hand you a wall that blisters.

What we do about it: shaded and north-facing walls get washed and treated with a biocide, not just rinsed, and we give the treatment time to work before anything goes on. Failed patches come off. Then a breathable masonry system that lets the wall dry outwards, because a sealed wall in a damp valley is a wall that pushes its render off. Inside, the same logic applies to the cold external corners where condensation shows first.

Exterior Painting

What we do in Clonmel

Exterior painting

Houses, render, gates and railings, with breathable systems that let a damp wall dry out.

Power washing and exterior cleaning

Driveways, patios, roofs, gutters and fascias, plus biocide treatment on shaded walls.

Interior painting and decorating

Walls, ceilings, woodwork and wallpapering. Furniture covered and floors sheeted.

After-builders and end-of-tenancy cleaning

Deep cleans after building work or between tenants, planned around your dates.

Bathroom renovation

Full fit-outs by one team: strip-out, tanking, tiling, plumbing and the decorating at the end.

Windows and doors

Supply, fitting, restoration and repainting of windows and front doors.

North-facing gables and shaded walls get washed and biocide-treated before any paint goes on - it is the step that stops the green coming back.

Bathroom renovations, start to finish

Bathrooms are the other half of our work. One team takes the room from strip-out to the last coat of paint: tanking, tiling, plumbing fixtures, sanitaryware, lighting, and the decorating at the end.

You are not chasing four trades with a week between each, and you get one fixed written price for the whole room before we start.

If the rest of the house needs painting too, we plan it as one job: the bathroom first, the decorating after, one crew and one start date.

How we price

Every quote is fixed and in writing before we start. We do not publish price lists - what moves the number is the state of the surface, access at height, and how much washing and treatment a shaded wall needs before a brush touches it. The visit is free and the quote lands within 48 hours.

How we work

1. We come out and look at the job - free, and usually within a few days.

2. You get a written quote with a fixed price and a realistic number of days.

3. We agree a start date and keep it. If weather moves it, you hear from us the day before, not on the morning.

Questions we get asked

When is the best time of year to paint an exterior in Clonmel?

Late spring to early autumn. The wall has to be dry through, not just dry on the surface, and it needs settled days after the first coat. In the valley the mornings stay damp longer than the forecast suggests, so we plan around that rather than pretend it is not there.

Why does the green growth keep coming back on my gable?

Because it is alive and it was painted over rather than killed. A north-facing wall that never dries properly will keep growing it. We wash, treat with a biocide, let it work, and only then paint.

Do you charge extra to travel to Clonmel?

No call-out charge. We plan Clonmel work in blocks rather than single days, so flexibility on the start date usually means we can start sooner.
